Bridal Skin Prep: A Three-Month Plan

Simple, low-risk steps for calm, glowing skin on your wedding day.

By Afifa Latif · The Hollywood Bride

Great bridal makeup starts with skin that is calm, hydrated and predictable. The goal before a wedding is not a dramatic transformation. It is consistency. This plan keeps things simple. If you have a skin condition, follow your dermatologist’s advice first.

Three months out: build a routine

  • Settle on a gentle cleanser, a moisturiser that suits your skin and a daily sunscreen
  • If you want to try a new product or treatment, do it now, so there is time to recover if your skin reacts
  • Book any professional facials or peels early, and ask about downtime

Two months out: protect and hydrate

  • Wear sunscreen every day so your skin tone stays even, especially before a summer wedding
  • Drink water consistently and keep your moisturiser routine steady
  • Plan your bridal trial so your artist can see your skin and suggest adjustments

One month out: no surprises

  • Stop introducing new products
  • Schedule brow shaping and any waxing at least a week before the wedding
  • If you plan a spray tan, test it in advance and share the shade with your makeup artist

The week of the wedding

  • No new facials, exfoliating treatments or masks
  • Gentle cleansing, moisturiser, sunscreen
  • Sleep and hydration matter more than any serum

The wedding morning

Arrive with clean, moisturised skin and no makeup. Your artist will handle the rest, from hydrating prep to primer chosen for your skin type. Tell them about anything your skin has reacted to in the past so they can choose products accordingly.
